Former Radcliffe goalkeeper finds new club

Goalkeeper Tom Stewart has joined Lancaster City, it has been confirmed.

Stewart has bee sidelined since last season after suffering a serious hip injury which required surgery.

The former Radcliffe man successfully went under the knife in June 2023 and will now link up with the Dolly Blues for the remainder of the Northern Premier League season.

Manager Chris Willcock has looked to strengthen his goalkeeping ranks after Andre Mendes - who has featured 33 times for the club already this season - suffered an injury in recent days.

Over recent seasons, Stewart has spent time at a number of clubs across the north of England, having previously come through the Bradford City youth setup.

He made his Football League debut in March 2015 during a second stint at Morecambe, before going on to feature for the likes of Buxton, Salford City and Stalybridge Celtic.

Fine performances at Ramsbottom United during the 2021/22 campaign saw him earn a move to Radcliffe ahead of the start of last season.

The Dolly Blues, currently four points off the play-offs, are next in action on Tuesday night when they visit fellow top-half side Whitby Town.
