Gainsborough add duo Minkley and Hornshaw

Minkley, 20, is a former Derby County Under-23s centre-back.

He said: "I’m delighted to get everything sorted and be a part of Gainsborough Trinity. I’ve been in training with the lads for a while now and I’ve loved every minute since coming in. The gaffers been great with me and I think we’ve got a really good squad for the upcoming season. It’s a great opportunity for me to step into men’s football. I can’t wait to get going now!"

Hornshaw, 21, featured for Football League Two side Scunthorpe United last season, and previously spent a short time on loan with Gainsborough under Liam King and Ross Hannah back in February 2019.

He said: "I’ve been down for a few training sessions now and I’ve enjoyed it, I feel like I’ll be able to fit in really well. The managers have been really good with me and they want the best for the team which is good to hear. I was with Neal Bishop at Scunthorpe, so that always helps when coming into a new group when you know someone."

Hornshaw continued, "I remember from my loan spell at Gainsborough in 2019 how good a football club this is. Unfortunately I didn’t get to play many games, but I left with nothing but good things to say about the club. Hopefully I can push on, get into the team and win games for the football club."
