Glossop North End part company with Stuart Mellish

Glossop North End have announced they have parted company with manager Stuart Mellish.

Mellish joined the club ahead of the 2021-22 season, replacing Pete Band, who went to Macclesfield.

The Hillmen were relegated from Step 4 after losing the inter-step play-off against Northern Football League side Ashington AFC.

With the club hoping to bounce back, they have made the decision to change.

“The play off last Saturday was a disappointing end to a very difficult season for various reasons,” he told the club website.

“I have no complaints about the result, Ashington were worthy winners on the day. A side coming into the game with 25 wins under their belt this season, full of confidence, and vastly experienced.

“While we were severely weakened with the lack of first team regulars, the players that did play, unfortunately didn’t produce a performance like we know they can, and I felt that a couple of the younger players let the pressure of the game get the better of them.”

The club have also confirmed First Team Coach Ollie Wright has also left the club after three years.
