Hard-working Cottrell moves to Ashton

Ashton United have signed midfielder Jake Cottrell from Chorley.

Cottrell, 32, was part of the Chorley side that made it to the National League, before their relegation at the end of the season.

He was previously with FC United, joining Chorley in 2013.

Manager Michael Clegg said: “Jake’s a player I have admired for a long time, loads of positives attracted me to him. Loyal, hardworking, winning mentality and above all else a very good footballer.

“It’s critical we bring the right kind of person to Ashton United. Jake’s excited about the project and we want to kick on from how we ended the season.”
