Ossett Albion

Ossett Albion defender Stefan Holt collected the top honour at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's annual awards night.

Holt, solid in defence throughout the Unicorn's First Division North campaign, is pictured with his accolade at Dimple Wells after collecting it from Ossett Albion Director Nigel Yarrow, himself a three times winner of the award.

A three figure crowd at the Ossett Cricket & Athletic Club last Friday night helped the Unicorns celebrate the club's stars of the season from their first team to reserves, youth and women's oufits.

Compered by another Albion Director, Paul Riordan, the event saw a second defender, the ever-popular Tyrone Gay, collect the Supporters' Player of the Year accolade. Gay, who also popped up to score a number of vital goals during last season, was presented with his trophy by club statistician and programme shop manager Geoff Pyke.

The Young Player of the Year Award went to goalkeeper Adam Rhodes who claimed a first team berth last term after progressing through the club's U19s and reserve team squads.

Albion manager Richard Tracey, who presented Rhodes with his honour, said: "Adam is a young goalkeeper who has a very promising future. He has thoroughly earned his first team slot and I am delighted he has committed himself to Ossett Albion."

Albion's second string, under the guidance of joint managers Darren Holmes and Gareth Hamlet, also had plenty to celebrate after they were recently crowned Lancashire League Eastern Division Champions following their title winning campaign.

The championship trophy was presented to skipper Alex Ferguson on the night as he was named the managers' choice as their top player. Jamie Moxon went home with the Players' Player of the Year Award.

Under the guidance of Ferguson and Luke Griffiths, Albion's U19 side also enjoyed an excellent season to reach the final of their league cup. Ben Teasdale collected the side's Players' Player of the Year Award while and Tom Allatt took the joint managers' accolade.

Ossett Albion's Ladies saw their Brazilian coach Junior Roberti presented with a special award for his services while players Nikki Swift, Nicky Davies and Rachel Powch took the individual awards.
