James Kinsey makes first signings as Stalybridge coach

Stalybridge Celtic have confirmed the signings of Michael Brewster, Greg Wilkinson and Matty Bryan ahead of the new season.

They are the first signings made since the appointment of James Kinsey, who replaced Chris Willcock as manager at the start of the month.

Brewster signs for the club from Radcliffe. He spent the second half of the season there, having previously represented Ashton United for three years.

“It’s an exciting time for the club, fans & community with new ownership, a new manager and a fresh start to shape a new season,” he said.

“I’ve played against Stalybridge many times over the years, some of which in local derby’s and the fans have always travelled in numbers! I was looking for a local club to play my football for the coming season and after speaking to the manager and hearing the plans, it just made sense!

“I’m excited to get going, to meet the team the manager assembles and help work towards getting this club back where it should be. I can’t wait to meet the people around the club, the fans and generally getting back to work on the grass!”

Wilkinson returns to the club after previously making 237 appearances for the Celts since August 2008. He returned to the club in 2017, and made a further 39 appearances.

He returns as a player/coach, and will form part of Kinsey’s backroom team.

Meanwhile, Bryan follows Kinsey from Wythenshawe Town. He previously scored 67 goals in 98 games for the North West Counties League side.

Bryan watched Celtic as a youngster, and is looking forward to stepping out for them.

“I’m so excited,” he said. “I’m from the area and know what a big club Bridge is.

“It’s a great challenge to help the club get back up with a manager and assistant that I know really well.

“I’m looking forward to being here, meeting the fans and getting the season started!”
