Lancaster secure prolific marksman

Lancaster City have announced the signing of forward Nico Evangelinos from Workington Reds.

Evangelinos, 27, joins his former Workington Reds teammates Brad Carroll and Brad Hubbold to the Giant Axe.

The forward is renowned for his ability to find the net, scoring 52 times in 72 games for Ramsbottom United.

Evangelinos has also previously featured for Ashton United, West Didsbury & Chorlton and Stalybridge Celtic.

He joined NPL West side Workington Reds for the 2021/22 season, but was unfortunately not as heavily involved due to persistent injuries.

Speaking to the club's wesbite about his move, Evangelinos said: "[Lancaster City] is heading in a very good direction at the moment told."

On what fans can expect from him, he added, "My style is very attacking and focused on chance creation. I want to get the ball to feet and play exciting passing football."

Dolly Blues' head coach Mark Fell is excited by the prospect of his new forward, stating: "It’s no secret we’ve missed goals. We’ve created lots of chances and often needed that finishing touch.

"Nico will give us that. He’s been a pleasure to deal with this summer, a great lad and I know he’ll be an instant hit with the fans.

"He’ll compliment the forwards already at the club and we’re still engaged with some more attacking options who are joining us on trial in pre-season.”

Lancaster City will face Blackburn Rovers on Friday 8 July in a pre-season friendly.
