The 34-year-old spent much of his career at Fylde and is their all-time leading goalscorer, with 155 goals in 241 appearances.
Following a six-year spell with the Coasters, Rowe went on to join Oldham Athletic, Bradford and Chesterfield - the latter being his club for the last two seasons.
Earlier in his career, Rowe played his youth football with Preston North End and also spent time on the books at Manchester United before being released as a 16-year-old.
He joins a Silkmen side currently two points adrift of the Northern Premier League play-off spots following a remarkable 4-3 defeat at Radcliffe in midweek, having held a 3-0 lead in that game.
Macclesfield have confirmed that Rowe will be available for their trip to Alfreton Town in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round this weekend, subject to clearance.
