Marine complete 3G pitch installation

Marine have confirmed that work on the installation on a new 3G pitch at their Rossett Park home has now been completed.

Work was due to commence last summer, but the club announced in July 2021 that a combination of delays, technical issues and cost increases meant the project would be pushed back by 12 months.

The club were due to ground share with Bootle FC until October 2021, but club chairman Paul Leary admitted at the time that the prospect of further delays was "not feasible, practicable or financially viable for all concerned".

The Mariners were promoted back to the Pitching In NPL Premier Division ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 season, coming from behind to beat Runcorn Linnets 2-1 in the NPL West Division play-off final last April.

The new pitch will officially be opened at the end of July, with a charity match taking place between Spurs Legends and the Yorkshire Spurs Supporters’ Club on July 31, kicking off at 2:00pm.

Over £0.5m has been spent installing the new pitch, and the club say the new Rossett Park surface “will be of huge benefit to the club and its local community”.

Individuals or groups looking to hire the 3G facility can do so by emailing pitch@marinefc.com.
