McGraa makes first signings as Bootle boss

Midfielder Sam Hughes and experienced goalkeeper Tony Thompson have joined Bootle.

The pair become manager Mick McGraa's first signings since the former Vauxhall Motors manager took over from Dave McNabb at the end of September.

Hughes follows his former boss to the Berry Street Garage Stadium, having made 11 appearances in all competitions for Motors this season.

Thompson, meanwhile, arrives with real pedigree from further up the non-league pyramid.

The 28-year-old helped Altrincham to the National League before joining Warrington Town in July 2022.

He made 56 appearances for the Yellows last season as they secured promotion to the National League North via the Northern Premier League play-offs.

However, his contract was terminated by mutual consent earlier this season to allow the 28-year-old to explore opportunities elsewhere.

The pair could make their Bucks debuts on Saturday when they visit Mossley in the Pitching In NPL West Division.
