New striker for Marske United

Marske United have announced the signing of Whitby Town forward Jake Day.

Day only joined Whitby from Matlock Town in September last year. He scored five goals during his time at the club, but a foot injury restricted his minutes.

The 31-year-old, who has also had stints at Alfreton Town, Guiseley and Scarborough Athletic, has previously worked with Marske United Manager Curtis Woodhouse at Bridlington Town and Tadcaster Albion.

Now the experienced forward has reunited with his former manager as Marske look to stave off relegation from the Northern Premier League.

On his arrival, Woodhouse said: “I worked with Jake before at Tadcaster and Bridlington Town [and] he probably scored over a hundred goals for me in that period.

“He has a big physical presence up there to take some of the workload off Adam Boyes."

Day made his debut in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Atherton Collieries.
