With nine games remaining, the Dabbers find themselves three points from safety, having won just one of their last eight league matches.
Such form saw manager Ritchie Sutton and head coach Gary Taylor-Fletcher dismissed following a 2-1 defeat at Morpeth Town last month.
The duo were replaced by Carden, who spent five years at Warrington Town and guided the club to its highest ever league position before enjoying a spell with AFC Telford United in the National League North.
He will be tasked with overturning the Dabbers form as they embark on a crucial period of fixtures.
“We find ourselves where we are in the league. It’s obviously going to be a challenge but one we’re looking to make the most of,” Carden said in his first interview since being appointed.
“We’ve got to go at it head on, we’re probably going to need a few additions.
“At this level, individually there isn’t much between the teams, but it’s about consistency. If we can put a framework in place that the players can play to, we can show them what it takes to get results.”
On his goals for the remainder of the campaign, he added: “Success this season is staying up. We can only control what’s in our hands.
“Any team that is successful, whatever that looks like, is together.
“Whenever I’ve come here, the Nantwich fans have always shown that togetherness with the team, and that’s going to be vital in the remainder of the season.”
