Perth Glory defender joins Stalybridge

Perth Glory left back Lucas Cook has joined Stalybridge Celtic.

The 19-year-old was previously playing his football Down Under for Perth Glory in the National Premier League Western Australia, having featured for Bayswater City prior to that time.

Originally from England, Lucas has returned to familiar shores and was handed his Celtic debut during Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Runcorn Linnets in the FA Cup preliminary round.

Manager James Kinsey said: “Lucas has been training with us for a few weeks.

"We have had to wait for his international clearance to come through so it’s been a bit frustrating, but we’re delighted he’s now available for us.

“We’re getting a natural left-back that is really keen to push on in English football. He’s fantastic on the ball, and is aggressive in how he wants to defend.

“Jordan Burton has been superb at filling in there for us in the opening two games, but Lucas’ left-footed balance will be a huge plus for how we want to play moving forward.”
