Premier Division preview: Hyde face Radcliffe as South Shields look to move clear

By James Gordon

South Shields will be hoping to move a step closer to promotion when they travel to Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

Kevin Phillips’ side will be hoping to return to winning ways, after being held to a 0-0 draw against Matlock Town on Tuesday.

They are currently 10 points clear of second place Hyde United with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Stalybridge Celtic are down in 17th, six points above the relegation zone, and will also be hoping for a win to alleviate any fears. They will be hoping to build on Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Belper Town.

Another eye-catching match sees second-placed Hyde United travel to fourth-placed Radcliffe.

The hosts are looking to end their two-game winless run, while Hyde are unbeaten in their last four games.

With those two playing each other, it could give third-placed Warrington Town a chance to close the gap.

They travel to Morpeth Town, hoping to build on Saturday’s win over Bamber Bridge after extending their unbeaten run to 16 matches, while the Highwaymen are hoping to end their run of two straight defeats.

Meanwhile, Bamber Bridge, who currently occupy the final play-off place, host Stafford Rangers.

Goalkeeper Felix Goddard could make an instant return for the club, having returned on loan from Blackburn Rovers. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways, while Stafford will be hopeful of extending their unbeaten run to five matches.

Should Bamber Bridge slip up, then it could give Gainsborough Trinity the chance to move into the top five.

The Holy Blues face a Warrington Rylands side bang out of form at the moment, having failed to win any of their previous five games - although they have drawn their last two games.

Also in the hunt for the play-offs are Marine and Matlock Town. They face Guiseley and Whitby Town respectively. Both are currently three points behind Bamber Bridge.

Other fixtures see Ashton United welcome Liversedge, Atherton Collieries host FC United of Manchester and Nantwich Town lock horns with Lancaster City.

Belper Town also face Marske United in a basement battle, with both sides looking to get all-important points on the board.

All fixtures will take place on Saturday 11 March at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.
