Premier Division preview: Marske managerial debut, top two on the road

By James Gordon

Marske United manager Curtis Woodhouse will be in the Mount Pleasant dugout for the first time as they host Atherton Collieries this weekend.

The Seasiders sit 16th in the Northern Premier League table - level on points with Colls ahead of Saturday's fixture.

Ahead of his return to management, Woodhouse described Marske as “a fantastic club with lots of potential”.

Meanwhile, league leaders FC United of Manchester will look to end a two-match winless run in the league away at Stalybridge Celtic.

Neil Reynolds' side last won a league fixture on October 15, although they claimed a 4-1 victory in the Manchester Cup when the two sides met last weekend.

High-flying Hyde United travel to Liversedge following their enthralling 7-0 victory against Bamber Bridge last weekend.

The second-placed Tigers have two games in hand on FC United, and three points against a struggling Sedge side could see them top the table if the current leaders drop points.

Gainsborough Trinity have a chance to edge closer to the league’s summit as they visit Belper Town.

The Nailers haven’t won a match since their victory over St Ives in the FA Trophy third qualifying round, although they have scored in their last nine matches in all competitions.

Warrington Town will look to extend their recent good run of form as they make a first-ever trip to Guiseley.

A win for the Lions would see them climb level on 25 points with the Yellows after 16 matches each.

Bamber Bridge welcome Radcliffe to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, in what will be a close encounter between two sides just outside the play-off places.

The Brig will hope to bounce back from consecutive defeats in the league, conceding 10 goals in their last two matches.

Elsewhere, eighth will face ninth as Morpeth Town take on Marine.

The Highwaymen have only won once of their last six league games, despite enjoying a solid start to the season.

Stafford Rangers make the trip to Lancaster City, with both sides playing out consecutive draws in the league.

Elsewhere, Ashton United will welcome Nantwich Town to Hurst Cross.

The Robins currently sit 12th in the table, and a win will push them back into the top half of the table.

Finally, Whitby Town will look to continue their recent resurgence when they visit Warrington Rylands.

The Seasiders have won three of their last four matches in all competitions, while Saturday’s hosts have failed to win any of their last seven in the league.
