Robins swoop for Scarborough forward

Scarborough Athletic forward Jake Charles has joined Ashton United on an initial month-loan loan.

Charles recently returned to the National League North side after a loan spell at FC United of Manchester, where he scored three goals in nine appearances.

He made his debut for Steve Cunningham's side on Saturday, scoring the first of their two goals as they came from behind to beat Atherton Collieries 2-1.

That was the Robins' first win in eight games and leaves them outside the play-off places on goal difference alone.

Charles first joined Scarborough from Stafford Rangers ahead of the 2022/23 campaign but missed several months of the season with a broken collarbone.

A Seadogs statement said that Charles' move to Ashton would help him maintain his match fitness following the arrival of towering young forward Aidan Rutledge on loan from National League Gateshead.
