Rouse returns to Pontefract as new manager

Pontefract Collieries have appointed Craig Rouse as their new manager.

Rouse returns to the club having previously featured as a player and assistant manager for the Colls.

The striker played a key part of the club's rise from NCEL Division One to the Northern Premier League.

He joins the club from Worksop Town, replacing Andy Monkhouse who left the Pitching In Northern Premier League N/West Division side by mutual consent earlier this month.

He will be assisted by former captains Andy Seed and Jimmy Williams while Gavin Rothery has taken up the position of first team coach as well as continuing as an attacking midfielder on the pitch.

"It feels brilliant to be back and I can't wait to get started as soon as we are given the nod to do so," said Rouse.

"I've seen a few comments around social media saying "welcome home" and it almost does feel like that.

"It's where I spent my best days as a player and equally it's where I spent my best days as part of the management team that achieved what we did, so yes I'm delighted to be back."
