Stafford Rangers appoint ex-Nantwich boss

Dave Cooke has been unveiled as the new manager of Stafford Rangers.

Cooke is best-known for his stint in charge of Nantwich Town between 2017-22. During that time, he guided the Dabbers to two play-off finishes, two FA Cup first round appearances and lifted the Cheshire Senior Cup on two occasions.

He replaces Matty Hill, who left by mutual consent earlier this month after nearly three years in charge.

Dale Belford will continue in his role as assistant manager, with Karl Lenaghan goalkeeping coach), Jimmy O’Neill and Stacey Barley (physio) also remaining at the club.

Cooke will take charge of Rangers for the first time on Tuesday night in their bottom-of-the-table clash with Atherton Collieries at Marston Road.

Rangers picked up maximum points in two of their opening four league games in 2023/24 but have since gone on a 12-game winless run, stretching back to August 22.
