Stalybridge Celtic sign new striker

Striker Max Leonard has joined Stalybridge Celtic.

The 29-year-old played and scored in their final pre-season friendly at home to Salford City but picked up an injury during that game.

Still, he has impressed enough to earn a deal with the Pitching In NPL West Division side as he continues his recovery from that setback.

Leonard started his career at Huddersfield Town before enjoying spells in non-league with Frickley Athletic, Glossop North End, Curzon Ashton, Telford United, Mossley and Wythenshawe Town.

Manager James Kinsey said: “Max is a top class player that scores goals. He can play as a nine or a bit deeper in the 10, so he offers us versatility.

“He is exactly what we want in the dressing room and the lads really enjoy having him around.

“He was really unfortunate to pick up an injury in his first game with us, but he is working hard to get back available and we’re hoping to have him with us again soon.”
