Whitby Town fan completes epic challenge to support club's fundraising efforts

Whitby Town fan Jack Martin has raised £1,700 for the club after completing the Isle of Wight challenge last weekend.

The challenge saw Martin cover a distance of 106km in a time of 15 hours and 42 minutes, ranking him fourth overall for the entire event.

His efforts have raised an impressive sum towards Whitby's 'Pitch Perfect' fundraiser, with the club looking to raise £30,000 to lay a new sand-based pitch at the Towbar Express Stadium.

The Seasiders' total number of postponements last season due to adverse weather entered double figures - the outcome of which, they say, has cost around £25,000 to the club.

Whitby say the new pitch will protect the future of a club, provide a base for their newly-formed U19s side and expand their community work.

Donations can be made via the club's GoFundMe page.
