Bradford (Park Avenue) equal club record as impressive start continues
Bradford (Park Avenue) continued their unbeaten start to the new NPL East Division season on Saturday - and in doing so, equalled a club record dating back more than 60 years.
A 4-1 victory at home to Ashington means the Avenue have now equalled their best-ever start to a season since 1964, remaining undefeated after 12 league games.
Prior to their first loss on 7 October 1964, at the time, the club were the only unbeaten side in the Football League.
They currently sit two points clear at the top of the division but have played four games fewer than nearest challengers Liversedge.
"I thought we played well," manager Craig Elliott said after Saturday's victory.
"We needed to win, but we also needed a good performance because we didn't play particularly well [in our previous game] against Liversedge.
"It was nice to back up both today. We deserved to win the game, and had some really good, standout performances.
"A lot of credit to the lads. On the whole, there were a lot of good performances out there and we looked strong collectively as a team."
This season, BPA have started strongly as they look to bounce back from the heart-breaking nature of their play-off final defeat on penalties to West Yorkshire rivals Emley back in May.
A summer of strong recruitment saw several key players arrive at the club, including Declan Lambton, who was named in the most recent NPL East Division Team of the Season, and forward Robbie Fox, who has already scored nine league goals this season.
They are next in action on Tuesday night away at Bridlington Town.
