Chasetown manager Jamie Hawkins resigns
Jamie Hawkins has resigned from his position as Chasetown manager, the club have confirmed.
The news was announced on Friday night, prior to their 2-1 defeat at Atherton Collieries the following day.
It brings to an end his nine-year association with the Scholars. A club statement confirming Hawkins' departure thanked him for his "unwavering commitment" and "professionalism" during that time.
Beginning as a player and assistant manager with the club's reserve team, he went on to serve for six years as first team assistant before stepping into the role of manager following Mark Swann's departure back in October.
He won 12 of his 29 games in charge, the club sitting eighth in the NPL West Division at the time of his departure.
They have also reached the final of the Walsall Senior Cup, where they will face Stafford Rangers next month.
“I would like to thank everyone connected with the club for their support over the past nine years," Hawkins said.
"It has been a privilege to serve in several roles, from player and assistant manager with the reserves, to six years as assistant manager, and most recently as first team manager.
"There are too many people to thank individually, but I will do so personally in due course.
"To the players and staff, I wish you all the very best for the remainder of the season and hope you can finish strongly, starting with the Walsall Senior Cup Final."
A Chasetown statement paid tribute to Hawkins, saying "Jamie has been, and remains, a highly respected figure within the football club.
"His values, dedication and connection to Chasetown FC have been evident throughout his tenure, and he leaves with the utmost respect of the chairman, board, players and supporters.
"While the club has taken the decision to move in a new direction in order to rejuvenate the men’s first team, this does not detract from the significant impact Jamie has made over a sustained period."
