Jimmy Marshall appointed new Lancaster City manager

Lancaster City have appointed former Kendal Town boss Jimmy Marshall as their new manager.

Marshall replaces Chris Willcock, who left his position by mutual consent at the start of March after little over a year in charge.

Having taken over the Mintcakes in May 2022 following their relegation from the Northern Premier League ranks, Marshall missed out on the play-offs in his first season on goal difference.

Following their lateral move from the NWCFL Premier Division to the Northern League, Kendal have continued to impress and currently find themselves sixth in the table.

Marshall will be joined at the Giant Axe by trusted assistant Gav Clark and goalkeeping coach Lee Marshall.

"This is an opportunity I can't turn down," he said following the appointment.

"This is my hometown club. I'm a Lancaster lad and It's a job which really excites me.

"I already know a few of the players and a lot of supporters, and I am really proud and pleased to be offered the job and looking forward to getting started."
