Warrington Town stadium improvements receive green light

Warrington Town have announced that work will now commence on two new stands at the Cal.Delivery Stadium, following approval from both Warrington Borough Council and the Premier League Stadium Fund.

The two all-seater stands will sit either side of the existing stand at the Cantilever Bridge end of the ground, to provide additional seating and covered areas within the ground.

There will be four wheelchair spaces within one of the new stands, and an additional 184 seats in total. The overall capacity of the ground will remain just above 3,000.

The plans were rubber-stamped by a WBC planning committee earlier this month, that enabled the club to submit for funding from the Premier League Stadium Fund, which has now been confirmed.

The Premier League Stadium Fund provides grants to help improve facilities of football grounds in the Men’s National League System and Women’s Football Pyramid.

It awards funding to clubs improve safety, and financial and environmental sustainability.

Since 2000, more than £207 million has been awarded through the fund to over 1,000 clubs. This has supported new or improved stands, turnstiles, clubhouses, floodlights and more.

Warrington Town chairman Toby Macormac, said: “We are grateful for the approval of this work, and in particular the support once again from the Premier League Stadium Fund, which enables us to make improvements to not only satisfy ground grading criteria, but to improve the fan experience, in a sustainable manner.

“The previous addition of a new stand and other facilities at the other end become out of use for home fans when games are segregated, so these two new stands will give our own fans the chance to maybe find their new permanent vantage point to watch a Yellows home match.

“Work will begin straight away, with the aim of completing as soon as possible.”
