Avro swoop for talented young defensive midfielder

Former Oldham Athletic midfielder Trey Turner has joined promotion-chasing Pitching In NPL West Division side Avro.

Turner had a spell with Burnley during his youth career before signing a professional contract with Oldham at the start of last season, having first joined the club in October 2021.

During his time with the now-National League side, he played against Wigan Athletic in the EFL trophy, and was also recently involved to a Republic of Ireland U19s training camp.

Turner's three-year spell at Oldham came to an end over the summer, and he has most recently been with Northern Premier League side Lancaster City, where he made three appearances.

Avro currently occupy the final play-off spot in the NPL West Division, despite losing ground on the teams above after winning just one of their last seven league matches, drawing four and losing twice.

Manager Alex Frost said: "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with Trey.

"He is a young footballer with a huge amount of potential, and we feel that he will prove to be a very valuable acquisition."
