Callum Saunders makes Dabbers return

Nantwich Town have announced the return of prolific forward Callum Saunders for the 2023/24 season.

A consistent goalscorer for several years, Saunders scored 29 goals in 75 appearances during his previous stint with the Dabbers.

He was also their top scorer in the 2018/19 season and curtailed 2020/21 season.

Saunders was most recently at Stafford Rangers, where he scored four goals in 15 appearances last season. The year before, he was joint third highest goalscorer in the Northern Premier League with 18 goals.

“I’m delighted to be back," he said.

"I know Paul’s going to assemble a really good squad and we’re going to have a challenge, so hopefully I can score some goals and we’ll have a good season.”

Manager Paul Carden said: “He’s a proven goalscorer in the league above, he’s familiar with the club and wanted to come back, so when that’s the case it’s always easy to get it done.

"He knows a few of the players from being here before as well, so that’s a bonus.

"I’m delighted to have him in. I know all about his goal record and how clinical he can be with the right service, which is what we need to produce.

"I feel that Dan Cockerline, Callum and Sean Cooke, among others, can be a real force and attacking threat in the division, as they would be in the division above.”
