Donnelly returns as number two

Leek Town manager Ant Danylyk has brought defender Paul Donnelly back to the Blues as assistant manager to strengthen his touchline team for next season's EVO-STIK Northern Premier League campaign.

Donnelly, pictured, is well known to Blues fans having been a popular player under former manager Lee Casswell, making 70 appearances before leaving Harrison Park prior to the start of the 2013-14 season.

A respected figure throughout the Non-League game after spells with the likes of Stone Dominoes, Witton Albion, Newcastle Town and Stafford Rangers, Donnelly was also a member of Nantwich Town's 2006 FA Vase-winning side.

The defender, who kicked off his career at Port Vale, returned on Tuesday and will continue to play after spending last season at Leek's EVO-STIK NPL First Division South rivals Kidsgrove Athletic.

In a statement confirming the appointment, the Blues said Donnelly and Danylyk would be supported by Jamie Cullerton with director of football Neil Baker also on hand to lend advice and support to the management team.

Blues chairman Jon Eeles said: “All at the club are very much looking forward to the start of next season. We have an excellent management team in place, and feel the club is well placed to attract some key additions to the current squad.

“The qualities of the friendlies are excellent, and Neil has worked particularly hard in this area. In addition to this we are working hard to deliver some additional fund raising activities for the club.”
