Evans Ready For FA Cup

Romulus update

ROMULUS kick off their FA Cup campaign this weekend on 'Non League Day', with the club offering a £100 cash prize for those attending their match against Norton United at Chasetown on Saturday (KO 3pm).

Richard Evans takes his side to the Scholars Ground as cup ties are not permitted on Coles Lane's 3G facility, and as a promotion open to all paying supporters, Romulus are offering an incentive to supporters of Premier League and Championship clubs on international weekend.

Fans will get a raffle ticket on entry, and whoever is drawn out will take three shots at an open training goal- if they score all three, they scoop the cash prize.

Boss Evans said "Its a bit of a thank you to our supporters who get themselves over to Chasetown for the tie, and a thank you to anyone from Chasetown who comes along to support us.

"We have a good relationship with Chasetown, and a good gate will not only be a welcome boost to us, but hopefully to their bar and catering facilities.

"Non League Day was a success for us last year and we hope it will be again- offering a prize like this is a bit unique, so hopefully it will attract people who don't normally watch non league football."

Norton play in the North West Counties League Division One, two divisions below the Roms, and shocked Midland Alliance front-runners Westfields in the last round, scoring four goals in the opening 35 minutes. They currently lie second in their league with four wins and a draw from five games and have scored 22 goals already this season.

Evans added, "Cup ties like this are always dangerous, but as long as we are professional then we can be confident of a positive result- just like any other game."

Romulus go into the tie on the back of a mixed weekend, having secured their first victory, 2-1 over Belper Town last Saturday, they lost 3-1 to Sutton in a derby game on Monday.

"We were a bit slow on Monday, but there's nothing drastically wrong.

"One or two of the lads are still returning to fitness and that will be a big help."

* Chasetown's ground is based on Church Road, Chasetown, Staffordshire. The postcode for SatNav's is WS7 3QL.
