FC United sign two

FC United have signed defender Matty Makinson and striker Dan Cockerline.

Cockerline, 23, joins from AFC Liverpool where he scored 22 times in 26 appearances last season, and has previously had spells with Southport and Stalybridge.

He told FCUM Radio: “I’m really excited to get going, I buzzing to sign for FC and just can’t wait to get started. I had a really good season with AFC Liverpool and I think a lot of that was down to me really enjoying my football.”

Also making the move to Broadhurst Park is former Blackburn and Everton youngster Makinson, 23, who joins the Reds from Colne.

Makinson said: "Proud, can’t wait to get going whenever the season starts and meet up with the lads, I know a few of the lads already and I know there’s real quality in the squad, add to that the facilities and the fantastic crowd and it was a no-brainer really, when you know you’ve got a great set of fans backing you it always gives you that extra 10% without even meaning to, it’s the 12th Man.

“I’ve played at Broadhurst before and it’s so impressive, so I can’t wait to be playing for FC.”
