Joe Bunney’s Robins spell cut short

Ashton United have announced that defender Joe Bunney has returned to parent club Macclesfield.

Bunney left the Pitching In NPL West Division leaders to link up with the Robins on loan, with the deal expected to run until the beginning of March.

During his time at Hurst Cross, the former Football League defender made three league appearances.

A club statement read: “A mutually respected agreement was made by the player and management team to ensure further first-team action elsewhere at this stage of his career alongside the qualities he possesses.”

Steve Cunningham’s side are currently 14th in the Northern Premier League, six points above the relegation zone.
