Marine to coach in local community

Evo-Stik Premier League side Marine is to launch its own soccer schools and coaching activities group called Marine FC Coaching in the Community.

The group will deliver quality soccer training and coaching for local school children in Sefton by staging soccer camps and activities either independently or in direct association with Sefton Council for the benefit of the local community.

The scheme will focus on the provision of quality resources and the availability of qualified coaches, equipment and facilities in the area to enable the delivery of coaching sessions that will provide children with the fundamental skills of football.

The structure of the coaching will help improve the children’s skills and techniques in a fun and rewarding way and will be delivered by qualified coaches from Marine’s first team players and staff. The soccer camps and coaching activities will take place at approved venues including the Arriva Stadium and local Sefton schools.

Marine FC Coaching in the Community Chairman, Paul Leary said; “This is a major step forward for our football club that sees us, in a really practical way, extend our already well established links with the community and local schools. Marine FC Coaching in the Community will operate using the very best of the skills, resources and facilities currently employed by Marine. In the delivery of planned coaching activities, this new venture will also allow us to develop our relationship with senior sports development and teaching staff within Sefton.

Scheme Manager Kevin Lynch added; “We have brought together a group of special people from Marine who have taken on board the responsibility of launching this exciting venture, namely Barry Lenton (schools liaison officer), Neil Getty and Steven Thompson (coordinators), Mark Prescott (treasurer), Richard Cross (secretary) and Paul Leary (Chairman). I shall manage the delivery of the coaching activities”,

This is a really exciting venture and after a lot of hard work and preparation we are now ready for launch with two three day soccer camps at the Arriva Stadium. The first is on 1-3 August and the second is on 15-17 August. Enrolment forms are being issued to Sefton primary schools this week and forms can also be collected at the Marine FC Clubrooms.
As Liverpool’s senior non-league football club, with FA Charter Standard accreditation, 14 junior teams, a great venue and the very best of resources obtained from Marine FC, there are lots of good reasons for children to attend our soccer camps and various coaching activities now and in the future.”
