Marske United announce departure of Graeme Lee

Marske United have announced that manager Graeme Lee has left the club to take up an opportunity with National League North side Spennymoor Town.

Lee took charge of the Seasiders ahead of the 2023/24 season, and he leaves with the club outside of the relegation zone, largely thanks to wins against Ashton United and Guiseley over the festive period.

Lee's assistant, Ian Clark, has also brought his eight-year spell at Mount Pleasant to an end, in order to join the Spennymoor coaching team and return to a club where he enjoyed time as a player.

Former Hartlepool United boss Lee spent more than a decade working in Middlesbrough's academy before taking over at the Pools in December 2021.

He led the club to the semi-finals of the EFL Trophy and FA Cup fourth round during his time in charge, helping them secure a glamour trip to Selhurst Park to face Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Lee left the club in May 2022 before returning to the managerial dugout over the summer.

He will join a Spennymoor side currently 16th in the National League North, with his first game in charge set to be at home to Brackley Town this Saturday.

A Marske United statement said: "We would like to pay tribute to their efforts on and off the pitch, and their professionalism throughout their respective spells at Mount Pleasant.

"Since joining the side in the summer, 'Spike' has collaborated phenomenally with our players, volunteers and junior teams, fostering a great collective environment for our community club."
