Mixed week for Tigers

Worksop Town update, from Ray Lucas.

It has certainly been a mixed week for Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division side Worksop Town.

Manager Simon Clark received the October Manager of the Month award from League Secretary Angie Firth on Saturday then saw his side go two-nil down to FC United of Manchester.

A second half fight back saw them get on level terms before the gift of an own goal sealed a victory for the visitors.

The Tigers bounced back on Wednesday night with a fine 3-1 victory at Buxton, after going behind after just seven minutes. The manager was pleased with the response from his players as they were well worth the three points.

Two strikers have left the club this week. Danny Davidson and Adam Muller were both signed in the summer by then manager Martin McIntosh, but have failed to cement a regular place in the side following injuries. The club wish both players good luck in the future.

This Saturday the Tigers face runaway leaders of Evo-Stik Division One North, Curzon Ashton at Sandy Lane in the FA Trophy. Simon Clark watched them at Clitheroe on Tuesday night was knows it will not be an easy game.

If the Trophy tie is decided on Saturday, next Wednesday’s League game at home to Mickleover Sports will see the club allowed everyone on free of charge. For every spectator that comes through the gate the club will donate a £1 to McMillan Cancer Support. The charity will also be at the ground doing a bucket collection.
