New man in the dugout for Quorn AFC

Ryan Beswick has agreed to become the new player-manager of NPL Midlands Division side Quorn AFC.

The former Nuneaton Borough captain joined the club last summer and made 25 appearances for the Reds in his first season, scoring seven times.

Beswick has now been asked to take on managerial duties following the resignation of Ant Carney last week but says he plans to continue playing next season.

The Reds enjoyable a memorable return to Step 4 in 2023/24, reaching the NPL Midlands Division play-offs before falling to a 3-1 defeat at Anstey Nomads in the semi-finals.

As a player, Bewswick has enjoyed a rich career across non-league, most famously guiding Solihull Moors to the National League North title and scoring their first goal in the fifth tier.

He made 230 appearances for Moors before going on to feature for Nuneaton Town and Tamworth, where he played over 100 games during a four-year spell.

“I’m still enjoying playing and I'm not ready to hang my boots up yet,” Beswick said.

"But at the same time, management feels like a natural next step for me, so this opportunity was too good to pass up.

"Lavs and Ant did a great job last season, leading us to the play-offs, but we feel as though there’s unfinished business here, and we want to go one better this season.”
