Newcastle Town snap up Louis Lake

Newcastle Town have announced the signing of young central defender Louis Lake ahead of their return to competitive action in the FA Cup this weekend.

Lake, 20, was previously at Aston Villa and Shrewsbury Town as a youngster.

He subsequently moved to Port Vale at the age of 13 and spent several seasons with the club. During that time, he featured alongside Joe Berks and Max Chimenes, both of whom are part of the Castle's 2023/24 squad.

Spells at Chasetown, Leek Town and more recently Wolverhampton Casuals have followed for Lake.

"[This club] looks like it's going places. It looks like there's been a lot of investment put into it, there's a good setup here.

"The training seems of a good standard so I'm excited."
