Sweeney makes Macclesfield return

Macclesfield have announced the signing of Dan Sweeney from Spalding United.

Sweeney, 26, returns to the Silkmen after departing for Pitching In NPL East Division side Spalding United in June 2023, where he scored four times in 13 appearances.

After recovering from an injury which limited his game time at the Tulips, he joined Southern League outfit Alvechurch on a one-month loan deal and netted six times in four appearances.

During his first spell at Macclesfield, he played a role in the Championship-winning 2022/23 season which saw them secure promotion to Step 3 football.

The highly sought-after forward will now return to life at the Leasing.com Stadium, and could make his second debut for the Silkmen in their next fixture at home to Marine on Saturday.
