Warrington Rylands sign trio ahead of promotion push

Warrington Rylands have made three new additions to their squad ahead of the Northern Premier League's transfer deadline.

The Blues have recruited in all areas of the pitch, bringing in defender Jai Nicholls, midfielder Ollie Shenton and forward Sam Burns.

Nicholls arrives at the Hive Arena on loan from League Two side Salford City until the end of the season.

He will link up with Ammies team-mate DJ Pedro, who has scored once in 15 appearances for Rylands this term.

Midfielder Shenton also arrives on loan to boost Sam Wilson and Dean Furman's squad, having spent the last four seasons with National League North side Chorley.

He has scored twice in 25 appearances for the Magpies this season and has played a total of 127 times for the club to date.

Shenton also counts Wrexham and Kidderminster among his previous clubs, having been on loan at the pair during his time at Stoke City, where he came through the Potters' academy.

The final of their Deadline Day captures is striker Burns, who makes the move from Bury.

In a statement released by the Shakers, they confirmed that Burns "has always been been clear in his ambition to play full-time football", and that the chance for him to play Step 3 football is "a huge opportunity".

The trio could feature for the club over the Easter weekend, starting with a trip to Morpeth Town on Saturday before hosting fellow promotion challengers Marine in Monday.

The Blues find themselves 14 points behind table-topping Radcliffe, but they are currently five points clear of sixth-placed Guiseley in the race for a play-off spot.
