1874 bid farewell to record goalscorer

1874 Northwich have paid tribute to striker Scott McGowan after his exit from the club was confirmed.

McGowan, 34, leaves as the club’s record goalscorer with 139 goals, including four in the NPL West Division this season.

He first joined the club in the summer of 2016, and return again in early 2019 following a spell at Nantwich Town.

As well as helping 1874 secure back-to-back Macron Cups and promotion to the NPL, McGowan scored their first goal in the NPL against Clitheroe in August 2021.

His last goal for the club came in the 7-0 win over Market Drayton Town in April.

The club tweeted: “We have no superlatives left for Scotty’s contribution. We wish our record goalscorer good luck and say thank you for the all goals.”
