Festive chance for Bramall and Reid

By David Watters

Hednesford Town's Cohen Bramall and Rushall Olympic's EVO-STIK Northern Premier League golden boot contender Alex Reid are bidding to earn dream moves to the Football League for Christmas.

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst is running the rule over the pair this week at the League One club's New Meadow after becoming the latest Football League boss to hear about the impact the duo are making for their respective clubs in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's top flight this season.

Reid, Olympic’s top scorer last term with 26 in all competitions, is currently second in the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division's scoring charts with 14 goals from open play and has attracted the attention of scouts from a host of clubs including Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday and a number in the National League led by Tranmere Rovers.

Signed on contract in January until the end of the current season from Solihull Moors, the 20-year-old former Aston Villa youth player was at Walsall before returning to the UK in 2015 after a spell with Swedish Fourth Division side Ange IF.

Left-sided Brammall, pictured above, was a successful sprinter as a youngster and arrived from EVO-STIK NPL First Division South Market Drayton Town in the summer.

Also under contract until the end of the season, he saw his talents go viral in September with a spectacular ‘Rabona’ assist for the Pitmen in a 4-0 win over Frickley Athletic at Keys Park, the 20-year-old's form subsequently attracting the interest of Premier League side Crystal Palace who played him in a trial match and Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.
