Widely hailed as one of the greatest ever, the BBC commentator is pictured with the committee members of Stafford Rangers Supporters Trust (STRIPES) on Friday night before helping the fans raise more than £2,500 at their latest sportsman's night.
Awarded an OBE for his work, the 71-year-old entertained almost 200 guests at the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's Marston Road with anecdotes from his long career covering the game before the event was topped off with a number of quizzes, a fish and chip supper and fundraising auction.
Motson, who went into semi-retirement in 2008 after commentating on over 1,500 games on television and radio, including all the major football championships led by the World Cup and European Championships, is still one of the voices of Match of the Day's highlights and a regular on BBC Radio 5 Live. A Barnet fan, he has also shown his less serious side since 2015 providing the commentary and narration to BBC children's football programme Footy Pups!
