Midlands Review: 26 goals in Midlands Division

By James Gordon

Coleshill Town failed to take the opportunity to dart into first over leaders Halesowen Town with a 4-1 loss away to Chasetown.

Joey Butlin opened the scoring within three minutes for Chasetown, before Daniel O’Callaghan doubled the lead 35 minutes later. Chasetown struck again just before half-time with Jack Langston sending the visitors into the break with a comfortable lead.

The final nail in the coffin for Coleshill came in the 52nd minute when Luke McGinnell netted Chasetowns fourth. Coleshill did manage to strike back three minutes later with Niall Rowe, however this was merely a consolation goal and the visitors left with all three points.

Elsewhere in the Midlands Division, Bedworth United came from behind against Loughborough Dynamo with Luke Keen equalising on 70 minutes before Elliot Parrott snatched the victory late on with three minutes remaining.

The bottom of the table clash between Histon and Soham Town Rangers resulted in a Soham victory. Histon led the match 2-1 going into half-time, but a double from Benjamin Seymour-Shove and a 90th minute goal from Oliver Ward meant that Soham climbed to 17th, leaving Histon in last place with just four points from 10 games.

Zak Goodson’s second half double meant that Ilkeston Town came from behind to claim all three points against Sutton Coldfield Town, who took the lead in the first half through Isai Marselia’s penalty in the 21st minute.

Cambridge City took all the points at home against Spalding United, with goals from Thomas Hitchcock and Ryan Swift for a 2-1 result.

Third placed Carlton Town claimed all three points away to Wisbech Town, with a 3-0 victory.

Yaxley town suffered their sixth defeat of the season at home to Corby Town, who came away with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Connor Furey, Jordan O’Brien and Elliot Sandy.
