New Blues boss is well on the way

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Leek Town expect to name successors to Ant Danylyk and his number two Paul Donnelly within days.

The Blues launched the hunt for a new management team on Monday after player-boss Danylyk and assistant manager Donnelly, pictured, left Harrison Park over the weekend following talks with the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South club's board.

Appointed in April 2016 following the decision of Lee Casswell to stand down, the management duo guided the club to a ninth-placed finish in April after falling seven points short of reaching the promotion play-off places.

Leek Town chairman Jon Eeles thanked Danylyk and Donnelly in a statement confirming the Blues expected to make an early appointment and were already looking for suitable candidates.

Eeles said: “The decision has not been taken lightly and has been done with a heavy heart as both Ant and Paul are such popular figures at the club, Ant particularly so, with more than 400 appearances and a key figure in Lee Casswell's play-off teams.

"On a personal note I'd like to thank them for their commitment and hard work over the last season – they will always be welcome at Harrison Park."

A Blues spokesman added: "The board and all associated with the club would like to thank Ant and Paul for all the efforts and work over the last season, and wish them success and good fortune in the next chapter of their management career.

"The club will conduct a very short recruitment process and will make an announcement in due course. No further comment will be made at this point."
