No Concerns For Evans

Romulus update

Romulus boss Richard Evans said he had no concerns, despite his side taking one point from their opening two Evostik NPL One South matches this week.

After a slow start, the Roms lost 1-0 at home to Hucknall Town before being held to a 1-1 draw at Loughborough Dynamo on Tuesday, the home side levelling with the last kick of the game.

But Evans declared himself pleased with the midweek performance, and remains bullish about his sides chances this season.

Asked he if was concerned, Evans retorted "No, not at all! We have done very well.

"We had a slow start on Saturday and missed some chances, but we still created openings without being at our best.

"On Tuesday we were better and brighter- their 'keeper has had a great game and kept them in it- it was just one of those nights.

"We have some very exciting players at the club and remain confident in our ability- we will grow into the season."

The Roms face another away day this weekend, travelling to Market Drayton Town who they beat twice last season.

Evans' men then return to Coles Lane on Monday evening to face Carlton Town (KO 7.45pm).

It will be Romulus' first Monday fixture since switching from Tuesday's in the closed season, and Evans hopes the move will pull the crowds in.

"Tuesday's and Wednesday's are often hit by football on the television, so playing on a Monday night will hopefully be more of a draw for our supporters."

In addition, the club also announced this week that they would be implementing 'Kids for a quid' for all home league games this season.

Evans added, "Its important that we encourage the future generation to get involved with local football- youngsters are the lifeblood both on and off the pitch at this level, and this will hopefully attract them to our games more regularly."
