Tigers announce ground plans

Worksop Town update, by Ray Lucas

Following Bassetlaw District Council giving planning permission to a development that includes a new stadium for Worksop Town FC, chairman Jason Clark is now working closely with the developers and the council to make it happen.

In other news, the Tigers home game against Mickleover Sports that was to raise funds for the Macmillan Support Charity saw a sum of over £2,200 handed over. The club are pleased with the support they got on the night and the Charity are thrilled with the donation.

On the field the Tigers suffered a 2 goals to nil defeat at league leaders Chester FC on Saturday. With no game in midweek, manager Simon Clark has been able to spend time with the players on the training pitch following a tough schedule in October and November.

In the FA Trophy 1st Round on Saturday the Tigers will host Blue Square Premier outfit Tamworth at Sandy Lane but there will be a few headaches for the manager in his selection as he will be without five members of the squad. Marc Roberts and Massiah McDonald are suspended, Michael Jacklin and Gary King are cup-tied whilst Gavin Allott is unavailable due to his loan agreement.

Owain Warlow has joined the club from Gainsborough Trinity after the end of his loan deal. The left sided player has been a key part of the Tigers' success since signing.

Full back Ben Turner has left the club this week and signed for Frickley Athletic. Ben is a Worksop lad and signed in the summer from Mansfield Town; unfortunately things didn’t work out for him at the Tigers and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the club.

Also leaving is Company Secretary Keith Burnand. He has been appointed Secretary at Mansfield Town, he too leaves with the best wishes for his future role. Club Secretary Keith Ilett has taken over as Company Secretary.
