All change at Millers

Carlton Town

Carlton Town have announced that long-time press officer Brian Dennett has been promoted and named as the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's new commercial manager.

Former Nottingham Post reporter Dennett has long held the press reigns at Stoke Lane but Millers Chairman Mick Garton believes it is the right time to freshen things up and put his talents to good use commercially while offering his role to an inspiring journalist or someone else already working in the media.

Dennett had already been combining press duties with helping out on the commercial side with Tim Harris sidelined due to illness and Garton said it was time to put things on a formal footing when the announcement was made on Monday.

He said: "Tim is not expected back anytime soon and although he will continue in his role as programme editor, we need to have a commercial manager bringing money in on an on-going basis.

"Tim and his brother Simon Harris have brought some new ideas to the club, not least the annual Christmas draw, sponsored events and the programme fair but they are unable to attend games at the moment and the commercial role is crucial at this football club. I would like to place on record my thanks to them both and we hope to see them back at Stoke Lane sometime soon and we hope Tim will be better sooner rather than later."

He added: "It’s the right time, we need to ramp up sales of the Christmas draw tickets and work with our community partners for our mutual benefit and now Brian can do that in an official capacity with the clubs full backing.

"We will actively seek someone to take on the press duties, it’s a voluntary role but will take on a whole new meaning with the changes we are making. The role would suit a student wanting to get into media but I am open to anyone wanting to get involved to help the club."

Dennett was delighted to be offered the role and said: "I would like to thank the chairman for the faith and confidence shown in me and I will endeavour to do my very best for the club in this new role. I am delighted to accept and will endeavour to increase the clubs income streams."
