Matlock provide managerial update as Ryan Cresswell departs
Matlock Town have confirmed the departure of joint-manager Ryan Cresswell ahead of the new season.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Cresswell had landed a new full-time role at Football League side Doncaster Rovers as the head coach of their Under 18s.
In June, Matlock announced that Cresswell would be joining a then-unnamed EFL club. They added that he would continue in the role of joint-manager at the Gladiators alongside Ricky Ravenhill, adding that the "viability of the arrangement" would be assessed during pre-season.
However, it has now been confirmed that the demands of Cresswell's new role mean he will be unable to take charge of the Gladiators moving forward.
Instead, Ravenhill will take sole charge of the squad, assisted by Richard Lawrence and Conor Washington, who will take on a player-coach role.
Lewis Duckmanton has also been appointed Matlock's head of football at the club and will be actively involved with recruitment and supporting the manager with all football matters.
It has been a busy few days for the Gladiators, following on from Jonny Margetts' surprise retirement. Jesurun Uchegbulam has also moved on, joining Step 3 Bury, while midfielder Ben Sault has also been released.
