Ben Sault joins Matlock Town as recruitment drive continues
Matlock Town have announced the signing of versatile midfielder Ben Sault from National League North neighbours Buxton.
Sault joined the Bucks last summer from Mickleover, in a move which enabled him to reunite with former boss John McGrath.
He previously represented the likes of Boston United, Kettering Town and Lincoln City.
"I'm really excited to have signed Ben," said Matlock Town boss Adam Clayton.
"I see a young player with tremendous potential to really grow with us and climb through the leagues.
"You only have to watch for 10 minutes to see he does everything with 100% effort. He’s a powerful player bursting with energy and enthusiasm."
Sault becomes the third player this summer to make the move from Buxton to Matlock, with Diego De Girolamo and Tom Elliott agreeing respective moves to the Proctor Cars Stadium earlier this month.
De Girolamo featured 230 times for the Bucks during a seven-year association with the club, while Elliott enjoyed five years with his former club but opted not to extend his stay following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
The club have already made another eye-catching signing in the shape of Alfreton Town defender and former Gladiators favourite Dwayne Wiley.
Meanwhile, last season's top scorer Montel Gibson was convinced to reverse his decision to leave the club, having scored 22 goals in 36 appearances following a move from Hereford in September 2024.
They currently have 13 players signed on for next season - including player-manager Clayton, who was appointed on a permanent basis at the end of April having taken charge of the final seven games of last season on an interim basis.
