Avro add more firepower in attack with new duo

Avro have announced the signings of Benito Lowe and AJ Warburton ahead of the upcoming season.

Lowe, 25, joins the club from Bury FC and links back up with managers Mike Norton and David Birch, after initially working together at New Mills.

Under their tenure, the former Wythenshawe Town and Curzon Ashton striker netted 29 goals for the Millers.

The management duo, who worked under Lowe's father Gary at Curzon Ashton in their playing days, are more than aware of his son's ability, and it was one of the main reasons as to why he's joined the club.

On his move, Lowe said: "The biggest influence on my decision was without a doubt, the new management team.

"I've known them through my father and I played for them at New Mills — it was actually my dad who told me to sign for them because of the level of respect he had for both men.

"They were the two players he trusted more than anyone.

"I've also been told by them both that they learned a lot from my dad and that he was a positive influence on their careers.

"Sadly, not long after I signed to play for New Mills, my dad passed away.

"It was a difficult time but they both looked after me and were very supportive during a hard time.

"I worked on my fitness and threw myself into my football.

"Despite the difficulties off the field, I had a good season on the pitch with them and scored 29 goals.

"Coming to Avro FC is a no brainer. I've played with a lot of the team at Avro before.

"The club is highly ambitious and they have come a long way. They are heading in the right direction and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Also joining the club is the highly-rated future prospect AJ Warburton.

The 18-year-old right-back joins from North West Counties Football League side Droylsden, where he made 46 appearances.

Regarded as a talented prospect, he contributed 15 goals and assists for the Bloods as they fell just short of promotion last season.

Speaking about their exciting new acquisition, Avro managers David Birch and Mike Norton said: "He is a young lad with a lot of potential.

"We think he will end up playing at a good standard. He is only 18, he is energetic and gets around the field.

"AJ is one for the future and he will be a good addition to our team.

"We are looking forward to him joining and are excited to work with him."
