Buckle stood down last week due to work and family commitments, and manager Scott Dundas called it a “big blow” for the club.
But they moved quickly to promote Prentice from the first team coach role that he took up in December.
Dundas told the club’s official website: "Since Martin came into the club last December (as first team coach) we have worked very well together. So this is great news that he will be combining both roles.
"Martin is an A licence coach and is always looking to get the best out of the players.
"He works very hard trying to drill in a winning mentality within the squad. He knows from his past achievements what this group of players can do if they put their minds to it.
"I’m glad this has been sorted pretty quickly and will allow us to continue with pre season with very little disruption."
