Backs to the wall time, admits Gingerbreads boss

Grantham Town's joint manager Jimmy Albans has expressed his frustrations with his side's performance after their seventh straight defeat on Saturday, writes Graham Cowell.

The Gingerbreads went down 3-2 at home to Hednesford after losing a 2-1 half time lead for the second time in a row in an Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division fixture and Albans couldn’t hide his feelings.

The joint manager said: "We have lost a game from a winning position again. We switched off twice and conceded. They have had four shots on target in 90 minutes and scored with three of them. Our backs are to the wall at the minute, but we have got to come out fighting.

"I thought we opened Hednesford up on a number of occasions in the first half. The first goal was six or seven passes and the second a great response. But we can’t continue conceding soft goals, but it is down to conceding free kicks where we don’t want to. We have got to stop that."

Ilkeston's FA Cup draw on Saturday at AFC Flyde on Saturday saw the postponement of Grantham's Monday night's trip to the New Manor Ground, news that Albans is happy to admit comes as relief.

Albans added: "Am I relieved not to have to go to Ilkeston? Yes, it will give us chance to get our injury list down before Chorley visit on Saturday."
